New wave of deregulations

Immediately after the elections, more than 30 professional activities will enter the strict conditions of the memorandum. Gas stations, kiosks, tobacconists, canteens, brokers, limo rental agencies, private KTEO, private tuition, secondary tuition centers and language education centers will be fully deregulated in our country by the end of June, according to the commitments made by the Greek side in the new memorandum.

Immediately after the elections, more than 30 professional activities will enter the strict conditions of the memorandum. Gas stations, kiosks, tobacconists, canteens, brokers, limo rental agencies, private KTEO, private tuition, secondary tuition centers and language education centers will be fully deregulated in our country by the end of June, according to the commitments made by the Greek side in the new memorandum.

According to the schedule, all existing obstacles to the exercise of professions of dockers and energy inspectors should be removed by the end of June, while the end of September must see the full deregulation of the professions of tourism agents, oenologists, beekeepers, traders of fertilizers and newsagents, as well as owners of news agencies and children's camps and nurseries.

The finance ministry uploaded a complete schedule of the deregulation of all occupations on its webpage, according to which:
 
-          in the last two months they lifted the entry barriers for 28 professions and are planning to do so for another 30 in June and September

-          within the next months they will aim for the deregulation of the following professions:
 
a)      by the end of June 2012:

1.       Energy Inspectors (Special Secretariat for Energy & Environmental Inspection)

2.       Marketing of Petroleum Products (GS of Energy & Climate Change - awaiting opinion by EA)

3.       Tobacconist - kiosk - canteen (Defense ministry - awaiting EA opinion)

4.       Hellenic Capital Market Commission and Bank of Greece - 5 professions (Finance ministry)

5.       Limousine rental business (GS  of Transport - GS of Tourism)

6.       Dockers (GS of Labour)

7.       IKTEO (GS OF Transport)

8.       Private tuition (GS of Education)

9.       Secondary tuition centers and language education centers (GS of Education ministry)
 
b)     by the end of September 2012:
 
1.       Travel Agencies, agents etc (GS of Shipping)

2.       Oenologists, beekeepers and 6 other professions (Rural Development ministry)

3.       Marketing of fertilizers and another 10 professions (Rural Development ministry)

4.       Newsagents - press agencies (GS of Communications)

5.       Children's camps and nurseries (GS of Welfare)

-          March has saw the lifting of entry blocks in the occupations of: drivers-taxi owners, driving schools and instructors, mechanics, brokers, marine chemists, barbers and hairdressers, chiropodists, organizers of exhibitions, radio technicians and radio electricians, pawnbrokers, locksmiths and money exchangers

-         In February, the deregulation moved to another 16 branches: stevedores, temporary work agencies, private consultants, guides, estate agents, chartered surveyors, accountants and tax consultants, actuaries, private providers of primary health care, units of chronic hemodialysis, dental laboratories, optical stores and contact lense units, physiotherapy practitioners, cosmeticians, weight loss and dietary units, conservatories, dance studios, schools of drama and film

From now on the information as to what goes on in every profession should be uploaded by the relevant ministries on the website of the Finance ministry (www.minfin.gr) on the basis of the relevant obligations incurred by the memorandum.
