Venizelos, the “coalition government or chaos dilemma” and George
Venizelos spent Easter Monday at Ippocratous with top members of his party, presiding over the election committee and meetings for the pre-election spots...
His staff are seeking the middle path between detachment from the economic policies of George Papandreou and the suggestions for the day after, in the shadow of the memorandum.
They are seeking a balance between a tough attitude and the apparent need for post-election cooperation, obviously with Antonis Samaras' ND.
They are looking for a way to place the government dilemma without being accused of extortion and without people having to remember Papandreou’s referendum.
Today, Venizelos will meet with PASOK candidate members in the three Attica constituencies. According to reports, he will announce a series of social protection measures for the unemployed and young people. Speaking yesterday to members of the electoral commission, he asked them to exhaust the potential for expanding their ballots with women.
All these are elements of the party's inability to provide convincing answers to questions from citizens about the "why" of the crisis and the day after; a weakness that is reflected in the polls, in which PASOK continues to hover at very low rates.
