“On Sunday everything will be considered, whether we will stay in the euro, whether we will proceed on a hard but safe path that leads to exiting the memorandum”, mentioned PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos during the election speech in Syntagma square on Friday evening.
Mr. Venizelos urged citizens to give a resounding answer at the polls, and namely “to the arrogant ones who believe they may be able to become PASOK in PASOK’s place and those without knowledge of history thinking that they are 'finished' with the great democratic party”.
“We are sending a message of confidence and security to the Greek citizens”, said the PASOK leader and addressing the undecided, stated that he expects them, despite their reluctance, “to keep Greece standing”.
“Everyone should understand that PASOK will not be anyone’s crutch”, he stressed again, asking for first place for his party and stating that if PASOK takes command it can be a catalyst of developments towards the formation of a government which knows how to negotiate”.
“The vast majority of Greeks wants a progressive coalition government, a pro-European government which knows how to negotiate with foreigners but on the pitch, not in the changing rooms, like others did behind our backs during the harsh times of negotiations”. “I accept no negotiation lessons, neither from the one who hid behind me, nor those who play with the fate of the country”.
Mr. Venizelos began his speech with the symbolism of Syntagma Square, saying that “the great slogans were once heard here” and stressed that two days before the elections, from this square, “we are shouting 'no' to turning society fascist”, meaning the entry into parliament of the Golden Dawn party.
