In an interview with U.S. television network CNBC, SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras said that the intention of himself and his party is for Greece to remain in the euro area, despite the fact that they consider the country’s rescue agreement, the memorandum, to be "meaningless" and in need of annulment.

In the same interview Tsipras appears ready to negotiate with the Troika about the stay of our country in the euro, stressing however that he still disagrees with the memorandum and strongly opposes the imposition of new austerity measures that "will turn Greece into a Third World country within the EU framework."

Earlier today Tsipras sent a letter to Jose Manuel Barroso, Herman van Rompuy, Martin Schulz, Mario Draghi and Jean-Claude Juncker, calling the memorandum "de-legitimized" but in a tone much milder than what originally had been leaked.
