In the opinion of the SYRIZA leadership, the planned round of contacts
of the President of the Republic with the party leaders of the
parliament was completed.
What they indirectly say is that there is no reason for the involvement of Alexis Tsipras in a new council of political leaders chaired by Karolos Papoulias.
The announcement continues: "the President of the PG of SYRIZA/EKM does not intend to participate in selective political meetings under the President of the Republic. On the contrary, he is available to the President of the Republic, either for an individual meeting or for a meeting with all parties in the parliament, except of course for the Golden Dawn."
The arising question now is why Tsipras would be at the disposal of the President of the Republic if SYRIZA believes the meetings provided for in article 37 have concluded.
However, paragraph 3 of Article 37 says "any exploratory mandate is valid for three days. If all exploratory mandates prove to be unsuccessful, the president invites the party leaders and if the impossibility to form a government that has the confidence of parliament is proven, he seeks to form a government from all parties in parliament to go to elections." It does not put a limit to the efforts of Karolos Papoulias, nor does it specify how the meetings with the political leaders should occur.
With its announcement, SYRIZA requests an "immediate publication of the minutes of yesterday's discussion of the political leaders of the three political parties under the President of the Republic, which is a mandatory obligation of the Presidency, to inform the Greek people and stop the false rumors by the media on the positions and intentions of the parties."

The Presidency of the Republic replied that the disclosure of the minutes will come after the completion of Papoulias’ talks with the political leaders, since according to Article 37 his attempts to form a government are still ongoing.
