The meeting of the political leaders lasted for a bit more than an hour, but the heads of parties did not agree on a specific political figure who would become the interim premier of the country and who would lead it to the next polls.

Thus, it looks like the president of the Council of State, Panayotis Pikramenos, is to be appointed to the position so that Greece can go to elections, most probably to take place on June 17.

Sources have said that while Antonis Samaras and Evangelos Venizelos proposed that Papademos should remain in the post, Alexis Tsipras suggested the position should be given to Gerasimos Arsenis. Aleka Papariga said KKE “is not willing to participate in any sort of games” and did not propose anything.

Panos Kammenos of the Independent Greeks was the only one who supported the idea of Pikramenos. Nevertheless, the parties did not discuss anything concerning the ministers of the interim government.
