"The country needs a progressive government that will negotiate with Europe," Democratic Left president Fotis Kouvelis pointed out in an exclusive interview on protothema.gr.

He explained that his party will take part in a government if there is a programmatic commitment under two conditions: the implementation of a policy for the stay of the country in the euro and the gradual release from the memorandum throughnegotiation and without a unilateral denunciation.

The message received by the president of the Democratic Left during his recent meetings in Brussels with EU institutional officials, including the president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, is that Greece can achieve the goal of extending the period of fiscal adjustment.

He announced that his party will not change its view on restoring the minimum wage and the institution of collective agreements. Kouvelis also stood in favor of the privatization of state enterprises such as OPAP.
