PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos will write an 8-point letter
addressed to the political leaders in order to explore the possibility
of pre-election convergence in a governmental program of national
salvation.
Speaking to local authorities in Thessaloniki, Venizelos explained that he will propose a "government of national agreement" with eight commitments:
- the participation of all in a government of national unity or a stance of support/commitment until 2014
- that together we enter the 2nd phase of the renegotiation on the harsh terms of the loan agreement with the stay in the euro as a prerequisite
- 3-year extension for the fiscal adjustment that will also require more funding
- ensuring debt sustainability in order to get out of the crisis 5 years from now
- repetition of the debate on structural changes so that the State's economy will work again, and making the economy accessible to young people
- party agreement on a simple, developmental, socially equitable taxation system
- the country needs investments, work and support of the real economy. The proposals of other parties are against investments and developments
- social safety net, guaranteed level of decent living, working with local authorities and NGOs, targeted funds

The PASOK president brought harsh criticism against SYRIZA, attempting to deconstruct Alexis Tsipras’ anti-memorandum arguments and explained that if the Spanish crisis had preceded ours, then Greece’s support program would have been more limited.
He supported his choice to sign the memorandum by saying "I put my signature under Constantine Karamanlis, who entered the country in the EEC, Andreas Papandreou who introduced the country to the Mediterranean programs and Simitis who submitted the country to the EMU. Above them are the signatures of Eleftherios Venizelos and Charilaos Trikoupis. I was the Finance minister who reduced the debt by 100 billion euros. What have Tsipras and Samaras accomplished with their signatures?"
Lastly, he reversed the SYRIZA dilemma "memorandum or SYRIZA", saying that the real dilemma is "Europe and euro or SYRIZA. Growth, liquidity, new jobs, reducing the debt or SYRIZA."
