With harsh characterizations such as “brazen”, “unacceptable”, “offensive” and “humiliating the country”, the PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos responded to the “misery”, as he said, of SYRIZA and its president Alexis Tsipras, who connected PASOK’s bargaining power against Germany with the Siemens scandal.

Mr. Venizelos stated that the country is ruled with signatures and commitments. The PASOK president also stressed that “we can move to the second phase of the negotiation. A window of hope has been opened”, and that “the axis of PASOK is clear: it is in the interest of the Greeks, the interest of our country”.

At the same time, he underlined that “if there is not a strong PASOK on Sunday for a government of national cooperation, then the country will be led to a political dead-end”.

Referring to internal PASOK issues, Mr. Venizelos said: “On Sunday evening we begin the effort to regenerate the party”.
