SYRIZA: Tough opposition from day one

SYRIZA members clarify that they will play the role of "hard opposition against a weak government" and that they are "not going to betray the citizens’ vote."

This means that not only will SYRIZA not support the new government scheme, but also that from the first day it will convey sharp criticism on the government decisions of the "memorandum block."

Tsipras is expected to meet with ND president Antonis Samaras at 2 pm in parliament, as part of the exploratory mandates, and to point out that SYRIZA will not support a government of memorandum orientation.

However, there are also voices that suggest "giving a short grace period to the new government" and maintaining the opposition tones on a mild level until the summit at the end of the month.

In the SYRIZA ranks there is satisfaction with the surge in voter rates, optimism for the next day, but also a "silent" relief for second place, as they recognized that a narrow lead would dramatically limit their governmental plans.

In this way, the leading party members add the details to the strategy to be followed in order for SYRIZA to be a catalyst for the course of political developments in the context of "responsible programming and fighting opposition."

They explain that there is no reason for involvement of the SYRIZA president in the process of exploratory mandates, as Tsipras has called on Samaras to proceed directly to forming a government.

This is the red line of the party, which is condensed in the phrase "let the parties proceed which before the elections were saying that the country cannot remain ungoverned, and we will assume the role of the opposition that was assigned to us by the people."

Tsipras will attempt to strengthen the cohesion of the party, advancing to the transformation of SYRIZA into a "great popular democratic party of the Left."
