In an announcement issued on Sunday, SYRIZA unleashed a fierce attack on
Democratic Left president Fotis Kouvelis and the government, on the
occasion of the measures expected to close by next Wednesday
The "only difference" between the present government and that of "Papandreou and Papademos is the bottomless arrogance of the new successors of the memorandum, who now baptize the barbaric measures as "disengagement" and "renegotiation", SYRIZA said.
The announcement also reads that "the new reactionary measures planned by the governmental troika have nothing to do with the notorious renegotiation or development and the exit from the crisis, nor with what was announced before the elections by the successors of the memorandum to usurp the vote of the Greek people."
Moreover, it stresses that "privatizations, reductions in salaries and pensions and cuts in public expenditure, which were not mentioned before the elections, are synonymous with the social and economic leveling of the country, deepening the crisis and removing the country from the Eurozone."
In its harsh critique against Fotis Kouvelis, on the occasion of his statements that "I will support the work of the Finance minister," SYRIZA says that "Kouvelis and the Democratic Left are proving daily that they are divorcing themselves from the final rejection and criticism of the memorandum and have joined the bloc of its successors and guarantors. Today they prove themselves to be the spearhead of the toughest implementation of a neo-liberal policy."
