"The cuts should be made in the fairest and most efficient way," government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said speaking on NET TV.
The aim is "to avoid affecting the most vulnerable groups. The government is seeking to make cuts where there will be no social consequences."
On the issue of extending the fiscal adjustment, Kedikolou said the request will come "when we are sure it will pass. We cannot have much credibility in terms of determination to implement the changes agreed upon when we have not even deregulated the barber profession even if the law has already been passed."
Regarding privatizations, the government spokesman said "we must hurry" and reiterated that two of them are ready and there is a list of 23 or 24 cases for implementation.
As for the reform of the public sector, he ruled out the possibility of layoffs and said that there should be staff transfers and moves to utilize human resources where most needed.
On the future of those under contract, he said that it will be reviewed, as some may be considered redundant.
