The content of Zigras’ plea provoked a harsh statement by Tsohatzopoulos, who spoke of transaction tactics by the investigator with some of the accused.
According to reports, during his plea to investigator Gabriel Mallis Akis Tsochatzopoulos’ cousin Nikolaos Zigras “burned” the former minister. The content of Zigras’ plea provoked a harsh statement by
Tsohatzopoulos, who spoke of transaction tactics by the investigator
with some of the accused.
For nine hours Zigras reportedly admitted that he was the administrator of the money that passed through the off shore companies until 2004, but without knowing that it came from bribes. He said he regretted not speaking earlier with the investigators but according to information, he said this happened because he followed the wrong advice that some people gave him.
Zigras reportedly talked about the role of other defendants in the case and mentioned names unknown so far to the investigation judges, who are involved in the supply of TOR-M1s and German submarines, including a government official who is expected to be called by the investigator.
Akis Tsochatzopoulos' cousin gave his plea at his own request and filed a request for release.
He allegedly testified that businessman George Sachpatzidis, who is already one of the accused and is imprisoned in Korydallos, became the administrator of the money after 2004. Reportedly Zigras mentioned Vicky Stamatis estimating that she knew since, as he said, he was under the impression that the former minister kept her informed.
Tsochatzopoulos' response was immediate. "The investigating authority has attempted systematically to date to transact with some of those involved in the case, which resulted in their not being detained. The same practice seems to be followed today, a product of which is what we heard tonight. Therefore I condemn this illegal and immoral tactic by the investigator, who deals with those who indulge in his proposals."

Judicial sources said that Zigras definitely knows more than what he testified. However, the information he presented fully confirms the evidence gathered by the investigation. As it seems, his plea will count in favor of his further treatment by Justice.
