It seems that the company products of George David Coca Cola 3E have Zero safety, as two months after the discovery of the herbicide substance and the withdrawal of 850,000 bottles produced at the plant in Crete, today a suspicious bottle was found at the same unit, causing a new intervention by the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET).
During the investigation of a complaint, EFET found a foreign body of an off-color ribbon shape in a sealed glass bottle containing 250 ml of the carbonated soft drink COCA COLA Zero. The presence of this object there is quite surprising and proves that something is wrong at the Cretan plant. The above soft drink carries lot number 19F1336VT and its expiry date is 18/10/2012, produced and packaged in Greece by COCA COLA GREEK BOTTLING COMPANY SA at the production unit in Heraklion, Crete.
EFET immediately asked the company to bring back and withdraw the batch from the market, but this incident clearly raises an issue as to whether the whole plant in Crete should close down in order to have an overall check by the State General Chemical Laboratory. And this is because the cases of dangerous products are continuous, posing a real threat to public health.
The sample has been sent for laboratory tests to the Benaki Phytopathological Institute, which indeed showed a foreign body, ribbon-shaped, measuring 2,5 x 0.5 cm. Laboratory tests for further identification are underway. A team from the regional EFET management in Crete are also carrying out the necessary checks in the production unit of the COCA COLA GREEK BOTTLING COMPANY SA. Consumers who have purchased the above product (photos below) are asked not to consume it as a precautionary measure.
