Merkel: The memorandum will not change

Commenting on the Financial Times publication, according to which PM Antonis Samaras will ask for an extension of the fiscal adjustment program until 2016, German chancellery representative Steffen Seibert said that no decision can be made before the Troika completes its evaluation in September. "What is true for Merkel and the whole government is that the memorandum between Greece and its creditors has been concluded."

He added that “the Troika report will be the basis for any future decisions”.

Samaras will meet with Merkel in Berlin on August 24 and with Hollande in Paris on the 25th.
