Protesting against the debts of the Organization to their industry, the pharmaceutical associations of the country are cutting off credit to those insured at the EOPYY.

Already, 11 Pharmaceutical Associations of the country (Evia, Florina, Grevena, Heraklion, Chania, Rethymnon, Lassithi, Cyclades, Magnesia, Argolida and Corinthia) are not issuing the EOPYY medical prescriptions so the insured are forced to pay for their medications in cash and submit the receipt to the insurance fund to receive the difference.

According to notices of the associations, the pharmacies of Corfu and Kozani will start their protests next Monday, August 20, followed by the Rodopi pharmacies on Wednesday, August 22. The pharmacists of Lesvos and Thessaloniki will soon decide on the timetable of their mobilizations.

Pharmacies in Piraeus will remain closed this coming Thursday, August 23, in order to conduct a general meeting, while the Athens Pharmaceutical Association (FSA) will decide on the same matter in the last week of August.

The Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association (PFS) has announced an extra ordinary general meeting on Saturday, August 25, which will decide on the "nationwide mobilization and possible suspension of credit to EOPYY and other funds that do not pay," as it states in a relevant decision.

According to the PFS, EOPYY owes pharmacists 117 million euros for May (of the 207 which was the total debt) and 145 million for June.
