Speaking
at the ND Political Committee, PM Antonis Samaras said that we must
avoid a return to the drachma and that the rival of the country is the
drachma lobby.
He talked about the need to take the painful 11.5-billion-euro measures and that "this package will be the last one." He said it is needed so that Greece can get the next tranche of the loan, which will be disbursed domestically to move the economy of the country. As a priority he set he tackling of unemployment.
Talking about his recent trip he said "first of all we changed the climate in Europe, which was the first condition in order to remain in the euro. If we want to have a recovery we must stick to the euro and also bring liquidity to our economy. We regained some of our credibility and told the European leadership that we need recovery. We asked Europe to stop the harsh statements against our country."
He also spoke about the need for reconstructing the party, saying that "we must not forget the political power that gave us the victory, and that is our party. We must not lose touch with society and this is why we need the party. We have to reorganize it, to elect a new secretary and rearrange our forces since our tasks and priorities have changed. The new secretary will have to reschedule the party organizations and prepare the party for the conference that will be of paramount importance."
"Once we get out of the crisis we must make significant reforms," Samaras added.
