At a joint meeting of the parliamentary group and the executive secretariat of the Democratic Left today, members will discuss the measures proposed by the government to the political parties that support it.

Reactions are many within the party and president Fotis Kouvelis will thoroughly discuss the situation of the country for the first time.

According to information, he is considering not raising the issue of party discipline with his MPs, since "it is a concept foreign to the Left."

There is concern, however, about whether the MPs will support the bill in principle and on the articles, if it gets submitted in parliament in more than one article as Kostas Skandalidis of PASOK has requested. It is estimated that all members of the executive secretariat and the parliamentary group will speak and present their views.

Although the measures have not been officially announced, the spirit of the final package will not be far from what became known during the past week.

It seems unlikely that decisions will be made at today’s meeting, but the climate that will be created will influence subsequent developments.
