Yannis Sbokos, former general secretary of armaments during Akis Tsochatzopoulos’ time in office, was arrested in his Athens home at 5.30 pm today, after the issuing of an arrest warrant by the investigator of the case, Gabriel Mallis.

After the recent additional pleas, Sbokos was considered a flight risk and the warrant for his arrest, related to money laundering, was thus issued.

According to the Police announcement, Sbokos was arrested "with an arrest warrant, charged with repeatedly and consistently legalizing proceeds from criminal activities."

A home search at his office in Ampelokipoi and his home in Kifisia revealed files and documents which were confiscated.

Last Thursday Sbokos received a deadline to submit his defence this Friday, October 5; however, his plea could come earlier due to the recent developments.
