Troika is still pressing the Greek government to proceed to layoffs of public employees immediately. The representatives of our lenders do not seem to be convinced about the time frames of the Administrative Reform ministry and the determination of the Greek side for the immediate removal of disloyal servants from the public sector.

Thus, yesterday they once again raised the issue of forced retirements which for them should reach 15,000 employees.

Administrative Reform ministry members say that this number will not yield the optimum fiscal results. They insist that in many cases it will overburden the insurance carrier of the workers.

Minister Anthony Manitakis reportedly agrees with this view and has asked for politics not to be exercised in communication terms but in actual ones, stressing that he is not going to put his signature on plans that would not have a realistic effect.
