Stournaras hospitalized due to exhaustion

Finance minister Yannis Stournaras was taken to hospital on Thursday morning, suffering from a heavy flu and with symptoms that alarmed his colleagues in case they might indicate pneumonia.

After examination the doctors found that apart from the flu he has been driven to the point of exhaustion, and they advised him to stay at home and rest. Despite their instructions, the minister returned to his office after deciding to continue performing his duties. "I will rest after November 16," Stournaras told the doctors.

The Finance minister’s program has been particularly heavy recently. On Tuesday night he stayed awake to negotiate the labour package with the Troika and yesterday he remained in parliament until 2 am for the discussion that took place on the privatization of public organizations.
