Lafazanis: We are not ready to govern

Koumoundourou has been all messed up since this morning after statements by Panagiotis Lafazanis on ANT1 TV.

“I’m not deceiving the people. We are not ready to govern,” said the SYRIZA MP.

"Is it an end in itself for SYRIZA to become the government?," wondered Lafazanis shortly before admitting that they are not ready to take responsibility for governance. "We are talking about the survival of the country here, we are talking about historical situations."

"Panagiotis is a perfectionist. That's probably what he meant. That he would want us to be ready up to the very last member," SYRIZA secretary Nikos Voutsis said, trying to justify Lafazanis’ statements.

Tsipras: We are ready to undertake a heavy historical responsibility

And all this just hours after the view expressed by Coalition president Alexis Tsipras that SYRIZA is ready to rule…

"We are ready to undertake a heavy historical responsibility to save this place from disaster. And with the support of our people, we are ready to clash with powerful interests inside and outside the country, utilizing negotiating opportunities at a European level, which were never seized by the surrendering memorandum governments, and then move on to the productive reconstruction of our country," Tsipras said in a speech in Crete on Wednesday evening .

At about the same time when Lafazanis argued that SYRIZA is not ready to govern, Dimitris Papadimoulis wrote on Twitter: «The government and its politics are sinking. With confidence and consistency, SYRIZA is set to become the pole of the alternative solution. The measures are accelerating the government deterioration and affecting its coherence."

Stratoulis reintroduces the proposal for unilateral debt elimination

“If the measures do not pass and SYRIZA does not get the declaration to become government, we will raise the issue of a new government based on SYRIZA and the unilateral cancellation of the debt,” Coalition MP Dimitris Stratoulis said on Skai. "We want to and we can govern. We will use the destabilization of the government, we will support the struggles of the people not to pass the package of measures. It is a condition for the survival of the people and the country."
