Y. Stournaras: The tranche will be disbursed directly

"Nobody can say that Greece must fulfill its commitments. We have met them to the maximum. The tranche will be disbursed as soon as possible," Finance minister Yannis Stournaras said.

"Nobody can say that Greece must fulfill its commitments. We have met them to the maximum. The tranche will be disbursed as soon as possible," Finance minister Yannis Stournaras said. He explained that "from the position of the Greek finance minister, conscious of my words towards everyone, I would like to assure you in the most formal and unequivocal manner that the tranche will be disbursed immediately and the program of financial support for the country will continue under the best possible conditions to meet the needs of our national economy."

He said that tomorrow, Monday, he will attend the Eurogroup, explaining that "I will not be alone in this representation of the country. I will carry with me the meeting of the country’s commitments and the very difficult measures passed on Wednesday by the Greek parliament. And with your positive vote tonight, I will have the most important law in 2013, the state budget. This national effort is recognized by all; the head of the Eurogroup complimented our country yesterday for the decisions we have made."

In addition to the above and during his final speech in parliament before the vote on the state budget for 2013 he said "our credibility was very low but we are rebuilding it one step each day. Our determination was challenged but we proved that Greeks are built for difficult situations. We were used as a bad example, but soon we will be a leading example." He also attacked the opposition, saying it failed to present substantial alternative proposals and that "many of these proposals lead to disorderly default."
