"Redundancy is a policy that has been agreed on and implemented by the ministry of Administrative Reform," Interior minister Stylianidis said
In response to a reporter's question on the issue of redundancy and the consequent reactions, the minister said that "the ministry has sent circulars to all municipalities and local and regional structures, asking them to define the positions that really need to be filled so as not to disrupt the order and functionality of OTA for the benefit of the citizen. This alone I think excludes any possibility or fear, which is currently overwhelming employees, while ensuring the required rationalization, the reduction of public spending and the proper operation to have fast economic results."
He added that "the sooner these lists of candidates for redundancy are posted, the faster we will highlight the exceptions that should not be affected and absorb into the functional posts those who are really needed. The goal is to avoid layoffs and ensure public expenditure in order to be able to move developmentally as well."
