Having deleted the names of his relatives from the Lagarde list, thus causing a political earthquake, Yorgos Papakonstantinou now wants to prove he is innocent, presenting himself as a victim.

The former Finance minister appears to have prepared his line of defense for the moment he will be called before the parliamentary committee that will investigate any potential criminal liabilities about altering the Lagarde list.

Speaking to the Nea newspaper, Papakonstantinou not only denies the accusations, but also speaks about a vulgar distortion against him. "If the list has actually been tampered with and much more with the removal of my relatives, Justice and law enforcement authorities should immediately investigate who had the incentive to make such a vulgar distortion in order to incriminate me".

He also speaks of the "creation of an offender" saying "I have nothing to do with the offense that mainly affects myself, as it is a distortion that I had no motivation to commit", and reiterates that he will not become anyone's willing Iphigenia.
