The SYRIZA proposal for the preliminary committee

 

Specifically, in a 37-page text the opposition party notes that there is sufficient evidence of Papaconstantinou having committed the following offenses: embezzling documents, dishonesty, misconduct and forgery. Additionally, for Venizelos, they note that he should be investigated for possible commission of the offenses of document embezzling, dishonesty and misconduct. This makes it clear that SYRIZA believes Papakonstantinou made the alteration of the list as they only blame him for the crime of forgery. The SYRIZA legal team argues that there is no question of statute of limitations.

 

They also ask «to extend the investigation to persons and offenses for which there will be evidence and information from the parliamentary investigation committee, after publicizing the SDOE findings on the amount of evaded taxes, findings that must necessarily be part of the file that will be examined by the preliminary investigation committee.»

 

SYRZA characterizes the corresponding proposal by ND, PASOK and DIMAR as "shadow play" and charges that "the political feasibility of the emergency procedure is unmistakable. Their motivation, a new, tripartite government 'vow of silence' to protect the much needed - by the government - Evangelos Venizelos and bury the enormous liability arising from his handlings as Finance minister and Vice President in the Papandreou and Papademos governments, when he received the notorious list and kept it hidden for months".
