Tsipras: Without heating people could die

Without heating people could die, said SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras from Florina, during his meeting with productive institutions of the city.

Without heating people could die, said SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras from Florina, during his meeting with productive institutions of the city.

As he noted, the increase in heating oil prices has no logic behind it, calling the measure "absurd" since it does not even yield results for the Treasury which, on the contrary, is recording losses.

He demanded an immediate response from the Greek government and Finance minister Yiannis Stournaras and a positive attitude on Thursday and Friday to the amendment that SYRIZA has filed for the tax bill in parliament.

Tsipras also mentioned the risks to public health from burning wood and much more. "Human lives are at risk this winter. Let's keep this as a footnote: We must achieve a broad unity to enable our people to overcome these terrible difficulties brought on by this barbaric memorandum policy in the last 2.5 to 3 years," he concluded.

Berlin visit

On Saturday, January 12, the SYRIZA president will go to Berlin to take part in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Party of the European Left (CRL).

On Sunday he will attend an event for Rosa Luxemburg, meet with the chairman of the Left Eurogroup, Gabriele Zimmer, President of the Swedish Left Party, and the president of Die Linke Gregor Gysi, and speak at an event entitled "Against the dominance of the banking system: Peace to the people."

On Monday, Tsipras will have separate meetings with the parliamentary groups of the SDP, the Greens and the Liberals in the German parliament, and will be a speaker at an event of Die Linke. The contacts will culminate in the meeting that will be held on Tuesday with the Die Linke parliamentary group.
