In last night's closed meeting at the offices of SEV (Hellenic Federation of Enterprises), Greek Finance minister Yannis Stournaras received great pressure from the industrialists to accelerate the reduction of the public sector and its number of employees.

According to information, Stournaras acknowledged the government’s failure to proceed with its initial plan, while pointing out the great political resistance from the governmental partners. "They won’t even let me fire the disloyal employees," he reportedly said.

Their discussions were dominated by the new tax reform that is apparently getting postponed from March to April, since the Finance minister will be in consultations with the Troika throughout the month for the tranches and the recapitalization of Greek banks, as well as with the coalition parties on the issue of redundancy in the public and other topics.

Stournaras also revealed that he is working on a plan that has come across many difficulties, but which will enable the faster payment of pharmaceutical companies directly from the General Accounting Office instead of EOPYY.
