Venizelos to troika: Greek society cannot bear any more measures

PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos asked the members of Poul Thomsen’s team to not bring any more fiscal measures as the Greek economy and society will be unable to bear them.

Venizelos requested any deviations to be addressed through development measures. a leading member of PASOK said the two sides did not discuss extensively about the layoffs in the public sector and that troika inquired more information about the bodies and agencies of the general government and allegedly said that Administrative Reform minister Antonis Manitakis has provided data only for the new charts in ministries.

Regarding development, Venizelos said that it will firstly require the Greek companies to operate properly, to proceed to an actual expansion, and presented PASOK's program against unemployment with the participation of local governments and the private sector.

According to information, troika discussed issues of development for the first time in such a serious manner.

 

The PASOK president said the facilitation of indebted households will benefit Greek banks as well.

 

The two sides also spoke about the legal problems arising in order for the privatization process to proceed.

 

PASOK is a stabilizing factor, Venizelos added and explicated the main lines of the national reconstruction plan promoted by his party.

 

According to information from PASOK, the troika auditors said the Greece's image is looking good.
