The economic situation in Slovenia is still manageable, but the accumulated macroeconomic imbalances necessitate decisive action, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Olli Rehn said.
He added that the Slovenian government should complete the launched reforms, define concrete measures in the budget and reform plans and warned the country about the financial sector risk from the high debt of businesses and the negative consequences of their deleveraging.
According to the Commission report, the risks associated with the debt of businesses, are aggravated by the strong connection of the financial sector to public finances.
Slovenian Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek announced that on May 9 the government will submit to the European Commission the stability program and the measures included in the national reform program for 2013-2014.
