Schäuble: Greece has shown that rescue programs is fruitful

"The euro rescue policy is fruitful," and Greece is an example, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said in an interview on «Impulse» magazine, where he praised the performance of Greece.

Schäuble added that Greece, which "last year had a smaller deficit than expected, increased its exports to third countries, and decreased its unemployment."


He defended the implemented policy in the countries of southern Europe, and especially for Greece he said "we always said that if countries cope reliably with their problems, in the case of Greece with the economic slovenliness and lack of competitiveness, then they will be given the necessary time. This is the philosophy of the rescue plans. And it works."

 

He added that "behind Europe is the idea to accept that others are different and decide for themselves.".
