Priority to the antiracism bill, forgetting political favors to those who took their money out

With their handling of the antiracism bill PASOK and Democratic Left revealed the crisis in their political strategy and their limited room for maneuvering.

Speculation in both parties is evident, beyond the discomfort and embarrassment for the government's stance to reject their pressure to file Roupakiotis’ law. Many people talk about jerking movements, and an apparent haste by PASOK and DIMAR to distinct their stigma towards the ND. Therefore, they say, they insisted on filing a bill, although they knew Maximos Mansion did not agree with the proposal of the Minister of Justice.

"This did not react on more important matters, like the government's mistakes on major economic issues such as favoritism to those who illegally pulled money abroad and roused the world for one finished and straightforward affair?" some observers wonder.

The way they moved about last Tuesday to promote the antiracism bill was indicative of their mishandling. PASOK was asking in the morning to promote its own bill in parliament and in the afternoon it agreed to file the existing antiracism bill by Antonis Roupakiotis. While PASOK has the end of the debate on a governmental level as a given, DIMAR believes they should wait for a review of the matter by the government until Thursday.

Amidst all this, and on the occasion of the joint submission of Roupakiotis’ text, new scenarios appeared for closer relations and future cooperation between PASOK - DIMAR.
