Kouvelis: No possibility of early elections

Democratic Left chairman Fotis Kouvelis ruled out early elections and spoke of the need to find common ground with New Democracy so that the antiracism bill gets voted in the Greek parliament.

"There is no possibility of early elections. The government will exhaust its term as provided by the Constitution. The country has no reason to move to election procedures. We are on our way to exit the crisis and we need to do so successfully. There is no need for elections," Kouvelis answered to a question about early election scenarios, after his meeting with Minister of Macedonia - Thrace Theodore Karaoglou.

Asked if there is room to agree with ND on the anti-racism bill, Kouvelis said "we must find common ground. And it must be found because the antiracism bill is necessary to be established as a law. Our democracy is tolerant, but also has laws that must be respected by all, mainly by Greek citizens. Those who want to turn the Greek society to the fascist side, those who use hate speech, should be dealt with within the legal provision which must be secured by a piece of legislation."
