Speaking late Wednesday to members of his party and showing to have fully accepted the idea that the country is heading for early elections Democratic Left (DIMAR) chairman Fotis Kouvelis used the phrase, "may we have a good race."
According to information, the leadership of DIMAR believes that the Prime Minister wants to proceed to elections, which will bring the clash of two poles, ND and SYRIZA, and Samaras is also seeking a repeated confrontation in order to ensure political self-reliance.
All this was preceded by the rejection by the government of the joint motion of Venizelos and Kouvelis, for a new meeting with Samaras in order to reach a compromise that would allow ERT to reopen immediately.
The uncompromising stance of the Greek government seems to have completely discouraged the chairman of DIMAR. At an informal meeting with his MPs, he clarified that their party does not intend to vote for the bill of New Democracy. It was also decided not to give a vote of confidence to the government of Antonis Samaras.
Earlier, after meeting with Venizelos, Kouvelis had requested a commonplace of understanding with Samaras, so that the government could continue its course and exhaust its four years.
During the meeting the two leaders did not discuss the possibility of a common appearance to possible elections.
Based on these new developments, the parliamentary group and the executive secretariat of DIMAR will meet tomorrow Thursday.
