First step towards the final agreement

After the talks with the prime minister, Evangelos Venizelos and Fotis Kouvelis spoke of the context of an agreement that will prevent the collapse of the Greek government and provide a solution to the issue of ERT.

 

The two leaders said they will meet again at 8 pm on Thursday evening in order to reach an agreement on the issue of ERT, to improve the coherence of the parliamentary majority and update the programming agreement between ND, PASOK and DIMAR.

 

Venizelos and Kouvelis referred to the need to reopen the public broadcaster, without using the word ERT. They also talked about the need to update the framework agreement of the parties supporting the government and essentially marked the countdown to a reshuffle and review of the correlations in the functioning of the government towards a more collective context.

 

The meeting will be held tomorrow leaders at 20:30, as PM Samaras will leave in the morning for Vienna to participate in the meeting of the European People's Party.

 

It will be preceded by meetings of the parliamentary groups of PASOK and DIMAR, where their leaders are expected to take the required approval and move to a compromising solution.

 
By marking the effort to defuse the political crisis, Venizelos and Kouvelis referred to the need to avoid early elections, citing the argument that the Greek people do not want such an eventuality.
