The TAP pipeline selected for transporting Azeri gas in Europe

The No2 of Socar and the vice president of BP, major shareholder of the Shah Deniz consortium, informed, according to reports, the Greek Prime Minister at the meeting they had in Maximos Mansion.

Samaras’ meeting with representatives of the Shah Deniz 2 consortium was completed just moments ago. As “Kathimerini” reports, Samaras was told that the TAP pipeline was chosen to transport gas to Europe.

The Greek government supports the TAP pipeline project, which according to the initial plans will start from the Turkish borders and end up in Italy via Albania.

The No.2 state energy company of Azerbaijan and responsible for investments and marketing, Elschant Nasirof and vice BP, major shareholder of the consortium operating the Shah Deniz deposit, Al Cook, passed through the gates of Maximos Mansion this morning.

Same briefing was carried out by representatives of the Shah Deniz 2 consortium, in the capitals of all the involved countries, both those that support the TAP gas pipe (Rome, Tirana and Athens), and those who support the Nabucco pipe (Sofia, Bucharest, Budapest and Vienna). However, the official announcement is expected this next Friday.

After the Sunday reports by Romanian web pages, news agency New Europe, based in Brussels, reported yesterday, exclusively as it claimed, that the TAP pipeline had been selected by the Shah Deniz consortium to carry the natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. The agency called upon high-ranking officials in Baku who are close to the decision-making center of the Azerbaijanis.
