Large forest fire in an inaccessible part of Parnitha

Serious questions about how the fire started at 9:05 pm - Authorities puzzled by the time and the strong winds in the area - Operation of 45 firefighters with 16 vehicles
A large forest fire broke out at 9:05 pm in the pine forest of Parnitha, in the area of Petra in Varibobi.
As Fire Department says the main point is just above the Horse Riding Club of Varibobi in an extremely rough spot where there is no road access, leading firefighters to arrive at the end of the road with vehicles and then approaching the fire by foot.
The operating teams include 45 fire fighters with 16 vehicles and 3 teams of dismounted fighters.
The difficult task of the Hellenic FD is hampered by the strong winds that blow in Attica since this morning, and the fact that airplanes cannot fly at this time of day as the fire broke out late in the evening.
Further concern is caused by the fact that the General Secretariat for Civil Protection had warned today that there would be very high risk of wild fires in eastern Attica. In accordance with the fire danger forecast map there was a Group 4 risk for today for the eastern Attica region. The same applies for tomorrow, Thursday.
