Obama is getting ready to attack Syria with France at his side

François Hollande: We are ready for an attack against Syria

The final decision of an attack on Syria will come from U.S. president Barack Obama, with the international community is waiting with bated breath for the final decision which is expected to be announced in less than 24 hours.

And Britain might have said “no” to an attack, but François Hollande said today he is ready to proceed with an attack on Syria.

Speaking to French newspaper "Le Monde" he says France is not daunted by the "no" of England to an attack against Syria, is open to the possibility of a military intervention against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, and the final decision of the French government will be announced until next Wednesday, the day of a parliamentary meeting.

Meanwhile, reliable sources say that the first African-American president in U.S. history does not want to be charged alone for the consequences of a war without even having the green light from the Security Council.

Obama will decide on Syria after the report by UN inspectors on denouncements about the use of chemicals by the Syrian government is assessed by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.

After the "no" of England in a military action against Damascus (the House of Commons voted against the Cameron government's proposal for declaration of war in the country of Bashar Al Assad), the U.S. would have to bear alone all costs of a potential attack. The refusal of Britain, one of the permanent members of the Security Council will play a key role in the final decision of the U.S. President appreciate American and British media, as Obama will have to proceed without the support of a close ally.

Angela Merkel has clarified that, although she agrees with the action against the Syrian regime, Germany will remain uninvolved as it is going through a pre-election period in view of the September elections.

Obama is being asked to weigh the consequences of a possible attack in the Middle East that threatens stability in neighboring countries as well. The supply of gas masks has been exhausted In Israel, while the government says it will stay uninvolved in any initiative of the international community. However, it is on standby with Iran -one of the allies of Damascus- continuing firing threats against it.

"The decision of President Obama will be taken by what is best for the U.S. He believes that countries which violate international agreements on the use of chemical weapons must be held accountable. We are aware of the outcome of the voting in the British parliament. The U.S. will continue consultations with the government of Britain, a country that is one of our closest friends and allies," White House spokesperson Caitlin Hayden said.

Germany excludes the possibility to participate in an attack

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle ruled out the possibility of Germany participating in an attack in Syria, in an interview, excerpts of which were published yesterday.

"We were not asked to participate nor do we examine this possibility," Westerwelle told the German regional newspaper "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" in an interview that will be published tomorrow.

Yesterday Chancellor Merkel said the UN Security Council should study the report of its inspectors on the use of chemical weapons near Damascus, after she had previously contacted mainly U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
