The prosecutor finds a felony offense for the wife of the former Minister, Stavroula Kourakou, whose accounts contained 1,311 million euros that were not justified

District attorney Popi Papandreou calls for the prosecution against the former PASOK minister Yiannos Papantoniou for tax evasion in a misdemeanor degree.

The wife of the former minister Stavroula Kourakou however, whose accounts contained an unjustified by the tax audit amount of 1,311 million euros, which resulted from the Lagarde list check, faces a felony offense.

The new evidence came from the tax audit done in the Papantoniou pair, between 2000 and 2010. The former minister allegedly concealed taxes of 80,000 euros each year.

It is worth noting that the Financial Crime Unit conducted the audit to the couple on order by district attorney P. Papandreou for the investigations on the armament programs which are ongoing and relate the past decade. In fact, the responsible public servants who conduct them have requested information from abroad, some of which has already arrived.

The relevant findings of the Financial Crime Unit have been transmitted to the Tax Office of Kifissia and in accordance with the applicable laws, Papantoniou can eliminate the offense of tax evasion if he pays the amounts he allegedly concealed.
