Returning from the U.S. Alexis Tsipras said: "You do not the Greek society’s support and the popular legitimacy" - The discussion of the motion tabled by the opposition will begin tomorrow at 12 and will end Sunday midnight
"The government has deceived the people," SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras denounced by submitting a no confidence motion against the government of Antonis Samaras.
The discussion will begin Friday at 12 noon and will conclude with a roll call vote on midnight Sunday.
Immediately after his return from Texas of the USA, Tsipras went in parliament and on the occasion of the police operation at the ERT building and the negotiations with Troika said that “the government had a popular mandate to renegotiate the austerity measures but has failed.”
He referred to the onslaught of riot police in the ERT building and the information about new budgetary measures noting that "we are not permitted to accept this maximum institutional aberration. The responsibility lies with all of us so I want to inform you that the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA, acting under Rule 142 of the House will table a no confidence motion against Samaras’ government. The destructive process should stop and we all have a duty to do it."
"You do not have the social support and popular legitimacy," the SYRIZA leader continued addressing the Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who represented the government in today’s Parliament session.
He added that "even when the partners accepted their wrong prescription, Samaras’ government talked about a success story. Even when the partners talked about partial debt remission, the government remained silent. Even when the European Parliament heralded an examination for the implementation of the memorandum, Samaras’ government continued to conceal sins."

He also said that after "looting incomes, the government is preparing the looting of public property. You are shrinking the last chance for recovery. You have no social basis and popular legitimacy. Your only ally, a small oligarchy of privileged and favored interrelated entrepreneurs. You are becoming dangerous to society, Democracy and the people. 15 months ago you decided to shut down ERT. Yesterday in a provocative way, the majority decided to grant private channel owners the public property of digital frequencies. At the same time Samaras’ government is getting ready for new measures, taxing sheepfolds and agricultural fields while silencing the public broadcaster."
On his part, Mitsotakis replied: “You gave an opportunity to the government to prove that the majority is large and unbroken. The government is present and the confidence vote will reboost the majority in order to address the difficulties.”
