Troika returns Dec. 2 - Fiscal and collection gap, defense industries and auctions – Deadline until the Eurogroup - More “sudden deaths” of other public bodies are not excluded
The Greek government has a time limit of up to two weeks until the next Eurogroup on December the 9th, to ensure a positive report from the Troika for the release of the 1 billion euros tranche.
The height of the tranche might be small this time and not pushing Greece, but the country is being pressed unbearably by its auditors. The Thomsen team returns on December 2, and despite the praise from Berlin it seems that nothing has changes regarding the lenders’ intentions.
From Brussels, during the visit of Yannis Stournaras, Commissioner Rehn and Eurogroup chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem called Athens to come to an agreement with the Troika as soon as possible.
The finance ministry said it will do everything until December 9 to avoid a negative report from the auditors, but Paul Thomsen insisted on the implementation of the measures Troika has been asking for.
The governmental uncertainty in Berlin may stop this week but until then various agents in Europe and America will continue to express their opinions.

The open fronts
All this is taking place while the Greek parliament begins the discussion of the new budget, which will be voted simultaneously with the departure of Yannis Stournaras and the auditors for the Eurogroup on December 8.As it appears the preparation and filing of the mid-term is transferred for after the Christmas holidays when the Greek parliament will re-open.
The issues which need to find a solution before December 9 are:
- the budgetary gap of 2014 that Troika raises at 1.8 billion euros
- the revenue gap of 200-250 million euros from changes in the property tax
- the future of the defense industries
- auctions for which lenders are asking complete deregulation
So as not to bring a "sudden death" in the negotiations with an unfortunate statement by the Troika, the Greek government does not rule out more “sudden deaths” of public organizations, such as the National Road Construction Fund.
