Shutdown of private entities to find the 11,000 public employee layoffs - 15,000 hirings announced for 2014-2015

The continuation of the mobility program, the acceleration of the evaluation of private legal entities from which will come the layoffs and the more than 10,000 hirings were discussed in the governmental administrative reform council under Antonis Samaras.

Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis informed Stournaras, Hadjidakis and Michelakis for the completion of the first mobility wave of 12,500 employees and referred to the relocation of 2,800 municipal police officers.

The ministers drafted a plan for the second wave of mobility of 12,500 employees that will have to be completed in the first quarter of 2014. According to government sources it will come from EOPYY, Local Authorities and Funds. Regarding EOPYY the assessment of its structures will be complete in the first 15 days of December while the portion from OTA will come from mandatory and voluntary intermunicipal mobility.

The council reaffirmed that private legal entities will be assessed in the coming period as they will deliver a large proportion of the 11,000 layoffs for 2014.

Lastly, there was planning for more than 10,000 hirings in 2014 which will cover the Health sector. It is also expected that there will be hirings from the security and the tax collection mechanism. According to the same sources, the next 5,000 hirings for which the Greek government has committed are expected to come in 2015.
