Svoboda: The issue of asylum reinforces the shift to Golden Dawn

The shift towards the Golden Dawn fascist party in Greece is also connected with the fact that the country has not resolved the issue of asylum, Austrian MEP and Social Democrats leader in the European Parliament Hannes Svoboda said.

Speaking at an event of the Political Academy of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Austria in Vienna, Svoboda criticized the diversity of asylum recognition rates in individual EU countries, asking for the cooperation between EU countries.

He said that Greece faces major problems in trying to control illegal arrivals of immigrants from Turkey and poorer countries should not be allowed to bear the bigger part of the problem and be left alone to solve it.

Svoboda called for mass action "against truly horrific immigration trafficking gangs," for the dealing of which there is no coordinated European action according to Frontex, and suggested cooperation between security and intelligence services of the EU member-states.

He added that people who arrive in Europe as refugees should be provided with learning, so when they return to their country they will have some education.
