Thomsen left shortly after 9 pm stating that "we made some progress" and that Troika will return in January - Questions about what will happen with the primary residence auctions - "We hope for a positive outcome tomorrow," Greek MoF says
The Greek government's negotiations with the Troika about the defense industries and the auctions are becoming a thriller.
Shortly after 9 pm Thomsen left the Finance ministry saying that "we made some progress" for the EAS and that Troika will return to Athens in January.
Meanwhile, Finance ministry officials are hoping for a positive outcome in tomorrow's negotiations. Specifically, an agent of the ministry said there has been progress, "but hopefully by tomorrow we will have a positive outcome."
Development Minister Kostis Hadjidakis had another meeting at 4:30 pm with the heads of the Troika, in the presence of Finance minister Yannis Stournaras, mainly on the subject of primary residence auctions. The meeting concluded shortly after 6 pm and then the heads of Troika met privately with the FinMin.
"We got close but we have not reached an agreement yet. The auditors requested figures for the stability of banks, depending on the scenario that will ultimately prevail for the auctions," a Development ministry official said after the meeting.
After the fruitless meeting between the two sides yesterday, Hadjidakis said today that "our intention is to reach an agreement, but we will not agree on everything we are brought. The aim is to agree with Troika, but we will not agree at any cost. Troika has a more rigorous approach than we do regarding the protection limits of the primary residence. It is easy to agree but then you have to manage the social consequences."
