The Greek parliament has decided by vast majority to suspend the state funding of the Golden Dawn.

A total of 272 MPs voted:

241 voted in favor

26 against

5 stated present

In favor of suspending the Golden Dawn’s financing voted the MPs of ND, PASOK, SYRIZA, DIMAR, KKE and several independent MPs. The party of Independent Greeks appeared split into four pieces (in favor, against, present and abstention).

Manolis Glezos differentiated his stance from that of SYRIZA explaining that "the Golden Dawn must be dealt with politically."

Regarding the Independent Greeks: in favor of the suspension voted T. Kouik, G. Dimaras, B. Kapernaros, P. Chaikalis, P. Nikolopoulos, G. Ntavris, M. Ouzounidis, X. Yatagana, M. Rachil and Giovanopoulos.

Present voted: M. Kollia Tsarouha, P. Melas, M. Chrysoveloni, T. Iatridi, E. Kountoura.

It is worth noting that while Panos Kammenos voted in the first procedure for the examination committee, he chose to stay away from the second one for the Golden Dawn.

Z. Konstantopoulou did the same thing as she has expressed her different -than the party line- opinion on this issue in the past claiming legal arguments.
