Stournaras: Reactions to the tax/fines are unjustified

Will not withdraw the provision for the crime sheet of the tax authorities - “The new system is more favorable than the old” - The fine is reduced from 120% to 30%

Shortly before the roll call vote on the draft law on the Single Tax Property in Real Estate (ENFIA), Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras gave clarifications after the responses of MPs for withdrawal of provisions in the crime sheet of the tax authorities that will be established by the new year.

Stournaras said this reactions are unjustified attributing them to a disinformation attempt. He insisted that the new system of the Ministry of Finance is more favorable than the current one and the burden on taxpayers who have outstanding debts to the State is reduced by 120% (effective today) to 30% for a delay of two years.

The minister explained that the provision added to the bill for auctions is a repetition of the existing regulation already been voted since last July and that such surcharge will exist for the State too for delays in its repayments of debts to citizens.

He added that there will be no fines "against those who have been subjected to a regulatory program."
