Auctions: Agony in the Greek government for the afternoon vote

Samaras’ government wants to overcome today’s test that is reminiscent of a 'round of death'

The Greek government is going through the most crucial parliamentary eight hours with two votes that convert the parliamentary session into a ‘round of death’. It already measures the loss of New Democracy MP Viron Polidoras that downs the majority at 153 parliamentarians, and is attempting to overcome the first hurdle of the real estate tax. Now the question that bothers parliamentary staffs of the coalition is whether there is more room for losses during the afternoon vote for auctions.

For now the officials of the ND and PASOK Parliamentary Groups assert that after the changes by Development Minister Kostis Hadjidakis and explanations given by Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras for the crime sheet of the tax office, their discomfort is alleviated. However, there is always the risk of "accidents" that usually manifest by MPs who prefer to remain silent than to threaten with casting a negative vote.

According to the parliamentary schedule the vote for auctions will start at 18:30.
