Fabius to Venizelos: You have done a lot, you should not be asked for the impossible

"You have done a lot, there is respect for the sacrifices of the Greek people, you should not be asked for the impossible," French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said to Evangelos Venizelos in Paris.

The Greek Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister discussed with Fabius about the economic situation in Greece and asked for help from the French side for a protected return of Greece to the markets as soon as possible.

Venizelos extended an invitation to his French counterpart to visit Athens and Fabius said he will visit Greece heading a mission of businessmen. The coming period the French side will prepare a note which will suggest areas for economic and business cooperation with Greece.

Fabius and Venizelos spoke about Syria, the crisis in Turkey, Iran and the priorities of the Greek presidency the Greek minister presented to his French counterpart. Fabius committed to offer the Greek diplomacy political and technical support for the needs of the European Council Presidency.

According to Venizelos’ colleagues the two men also spoke about the issue of the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone and Skopje.

Venizelos’ meeting with Moscovici

At the meeting of the Greek foreign minister with French FinMin Pierre Moscovici in Paris, they discussed in detail the Greek economy and the implementation of the Greek economic adjustment program.

On Tuesday Venizelos will meet with the Secretary General of the Socialist Party Harlem Désir, while in the afternoon he will go to the French Senate and present the priorities of the Greek EU Presidency to the senators who take part in the committees on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
