Eurostat: Greece is first in unemployment in the EU

Unemployment reaches 12% in the Eurozone in December against estimates for 12.1%

Greece is first in unemployment and youth unemployment in the EU according to data from the European statistical authority Eurostat for December.

Unemployment in Greece stood at 27.8% (October data), and the country also recorded the second largest increase in unemployment by 1.7 points, from 26.1% to 27.8%, compared to October 2012.

The largest increase was recorded in Cyprus, from 13.9% to 17.5%.

As for youth unemployment, Greece is the top with 59.2% in October.

Unemployment across the Eurozone remained at 12%, while in the EU it decreased from 11.8 to 11.7%.
