Venizelos: Greece must turn away from the crisis and the memoranda

These six months will judge the credibility and future of the Eurozone, the deputy PM said

During these six months that we are going through, Greece must turn towards the final end of the crisis and the memoranda, deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos said in his speech at the Economist conference in Thessaloniki.

"This will be the practical and decisive response to the new currents of Euroscepticism. These six months we are going through will judge the credibility and future of the Eurozone, as Greece is the "laboratory" of the complex crisis in Europe," he added.

Venizelos also spoke of the need of a new vision for Europe that will not be identified with the policies of austerity, the unemployment and the crisis, and an improvement of the architecture of the European structure.

He added that there is a lack of reflexes in the EU that has to be met and that Euroscepticism must be dealt with, be it right-wing or classic conservative, or of the supposedly radical but conservative left.

Venizelos expressed his belief that this EU Presidency will be successful as the previous ones and praised the contribution of the Greek Commissioner Maria Damanaki on the organization of the Economist conference in Thessaloniki.
